Fact-checking policy
Last updated October 13, 2026
Published guides require genuine, version-specific owner factual and editorial decisions. A single responsible operator can perform both tasks through separate records; this is not independent professional review. AI-assisted research and automated checks remain supporting evidence.
Evidence before publication
Insurance articles must identify their sources and verification date. State guides additionally require official regulatory sources, effective-date information or an explicit explanation of uncertainty, and coverage limitations or exceptions where relevant. Unsupported rates, statistics, credentials and legal requirements must be omitted.
Human review and recorded decisions
The workflow is draft, fact-check, review, approval, then publication. Factual verification and editorial approval require recorded decisions from genuinely verified contributors with the appropriate role. Specialized reviewer attribution appears only when that person actually reviewed the article. Automated checks do not substitute for human judgment.
Approval applies to an exact version
Review records cover a content hash including the article text and relevant metadata. Changes to approved information require renewed verification and approval. Drafts, pending reviews and unpublished content cannot generate public article routes. Published noindex articles are excluded from listings, recommendations, search and the sitemap.
Corrections and continuing verification
Reports should identify the disputed statement and reliable evidence. The site operator handles reader corrections through the contact channel. A report is a request for review, not automatic acceptance of the disputed claim. Material corrections require renewed review; outdated or disputed material can be withdrawn while investigated. A verification date does not guarantee that a law or policy remains unchanged.
Limits and independence
Educational examples are labeled and disclose assumptions. Tools cannot establish legal compliance or predict insurer decisions. Advertising remains disabled and must not determine factual conclusions if introduced later.
